I have just bought my daughter her first car from Cambs Cars Ltd. It is a worrying responsibility as a mum to make sure I find the right car, one that is suitable, within budget and overall safe. Luckily we were met with a friendly salesman who was extremely helpful giving us all the info we needed and helped us find the perfect car. Not pushy as all, let us test drive the car and then left us alone to make our decision. Vehicle also come with 3 months AA Warranty and 12 months Breakdown cover. As a woman who was car shopping on her own i was a little worried as i have very little knowledge of cars. My concerns were soon gone. I arrived on site to be greeted by a very helpful sales man who was very knowledgeable and guided me to a car that suited all my needs and was very reasonably priced. there was no pushy sales tactics he let me have a look round on my own and let me take it out on a test drive on my own. The whole process from start to finish was a dream he even helped me tax my car and i was impressed that I got 3 months AA warranty which is a great peace of mind. I wanted to take the car straight away which again was no issue. I would 100% recommend this garage to anyone looking for a great car sales experience.

Not gonna lie and leave a fake review, but overall I'm not happy with the after sale service, which is I'm leaving 2 star, I have to be honest they do have a clean garage and a clean , genuine range of cars, however I'm not happy how I was treated. I bought a car from them for £5300 , that I had checked before buying and everything was good so that's fine. However a fault developed shortly after with the air flow sensor of the car which a small problem, so they asked me to bring the car back and they fixed it, however they didn't answer a single phone call I made and only replied to messages sometimes hours / days later, sometimes having to double text to get an answer. The question is why won't they pick up the call or at least call me back, instead of going back and forth with messages ? Anyway this was fixed and again I had a check engine light with the car ( I have to say this is 3000 miles later ) this time a glow plug fault flagged up , hence having to replace the glow plugs which is gonna cost me between labour and parts about £200. This time they refused to repair this as they said I went over by 600 miles and the warranty only covers up to 2500 or 3 months again fair enough, but the point I'm trying to make would it not have been a better look for the business to fix this as well especially since it hasn't even been 3 months from purchase ? After all they got £5300 for the car and I have to say the after car is absolutely lacking. My advice to you cambs car is sometimes try and go beyond what's written on paper to make customers happy and to gain a customer for life, rather than just a one off ! £200 isn't nothing for thr business but for an average person it could be a lot, they also didn't refund me any fuel cost for driving to them to fix the first issues, again I believe it would have been a better look to give me a gesture of good will. Would I recommend their cars ? Yes , but keep in mind the after sale customer service isn't the best. Your calls won't be answered and you won't be getting any gestures of goodwill from them. As a customer service eccentric business you have to remeber that what makes you stand out and how you get repeat customers is when you go above and beyond for them which isn't what was done for me, definitely won't go back.

Vehicle Checks

After purchasing the car I had the following issues:1. Entertainment screen didn’t work properly and I had to replace myself. Yes, Cambs cars sent me a new screen, but why wasn’t the issue with the screen picked up during the pre-check stage? 2. Wheel nut missing. Again, Cambs cars sent me a replacement but this didn’t work as the wheel nut hole was threaded so the car had to be taken ‘back to base’ to be repaired. How did the car pass the MOT with a wheel nut missing?3. Small leak from the transfer box. I had a local mechanic check the car two weeks after purchase and an oil leak was spotted underneath the car. The Cambs car mechanic checked the leak at the same time as repairing the wheel nut (see above) and said it was coming from the drive shaft seal. I didn’t want to drive 2 1/2 hours to get it fixed by Cambs cars, so I organised for a local mechanic to repair. The issue wasn’t the drive shaft seal (which I spent £25 on) but a small leak from the transfer box. I made contact with Cambs cars who said that the transfer box is not covered by the 3 month warranty as it’s technically not part of the engine or gearbox. Cambs Cars did offer to replace the transfer box oil and use an additive to seal up the leak. After speaking to a few mechanics, they strongly suggested that additive should not be used as it can do more damage than good. I have now decided to not bother sending the car back to Cambs cars and will get the work completed elsewhere. I have written this review to highlight that the checks that you would expect when buying from a private dealership don’t always take place, so please check the car throughly before purchase.

Would not recommend these traders

Would not recommend this trader to anyone. We brought a car what lasted 5 days before it had a fault we then had to take the car back to the trader to try and fix the fault and said it was one thing and then turnt out to be another thing they decided to replace things on the car that wasn’t even the fault we then got the car back and it was still doing the same thing so we contacted cambs cars to get the car recovered back to there garage to again fix the fault which they refused to so we had just paid £4,500 for this car and then we also had to pay for it to be recovered all in the space of five days. We explained to these traders that this wasn’t ideal we have a child who is very sick so needed to car for appointments etc they told us that we would have the car back in time but in fact we didn’t and we had to then pay out even more money to hire a car to get to these appointments. Anyway fast forward to today the car currently when starts has no end of smoke coming out the engine still has a light come what was apparently fixed but most of all the car doesn’t start now. I do not recommend these traders to anyone and they just fob people off we have now lost out on a lot of money and also have no transport to be able to get our sick child to important appointments. Very disappointed!
